Dripping Springs Description
Dripping Springs lies in the beautiful Texas Hill Country about 25 miles west of Austin, the state capitol. This beautiful Hill Country town offers majestic views, abundant wildlife, rolling hills, and rock bottom creeks. The Dripping Springs population, within its city limit, is about 1,788 although its extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) is home to nearly 30,000. The city offers an exceptional school system, affordable living, and proximity to Austin and San Antonio. Dripping Springs bills itself as the “Gateway To The Hill Country” and is often the first stop in Texas for visitors coming from the east. When people enter the Dripping Springs area at night, many of them notice something is different – the skies over the city are not spoiled by light pollution. The International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) announced in February of 2014 that it has designated Dripping Springs as the first International Dark Sky Community in Texas.
